What is it like to immigrate to North America as an Arab? Wake Island explores this question in a triptych featuring an immersive live performance with Radwan Ghazi Moumneh, a new ambient album release with a spatial audio listening experience and a role-playing video game.

خُلق/ هُجر | Born to Leave explores the complex relationships Wake Island have with their homeland of Lebanon and host country Canada, informed by many perspectives on ‘belonging’ and grief: from the crushing economic collapse in Lebanon and unprecedented wave of exodus, to the tensions embodied in emigration and diasporic creative life.

Premiering at PHI Centre, from May 1 to 7 you are invited to discover and play the choose-your-own-adventure video game in the window displays of Galerie 1, and listen to the album's spatial audio mix in the Habitat Sonore: Listening Room.

May 3, don’t miss a unique immersive live audiovisual performance with Wake Island and Radwan Ghazi Moumneh alongside a video installation by Giotto—remixing the game’s 3D visuals in a multiscreen array.
